Valladolid

In the north of the Mexican Yucatan peninsula lies the small town of 

Valladolid. Valladolid counts with about 40,000 inhabitants to one of the 

most beautiful colonial cities throughout Mexico. Valladolid is an ideal 

base for exploring the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza and Ek Balam. The 

city is very well connected and tranquil seaside. In the heart of the 

beautiful Old Town Photo Smurf Adventure Tours found on his tour 

many small shops and restaurants. On the gr0ßen place there during 

the day much bustle, the evening is here often an interesting flea 

market find. 

History of the city of Valladolid 

The city of Valladolid was founded by the Spanish conquerors, the so- 

called conquistadors in May 1543 Away from the present town. Was 

built in the city on the ruins of the lost Mayan culture. The city of the 

Maya called ski or Zaki Val. The buildings of the Maya were torn down, 

the stones and building materials used for the new city. The name of 

Valladolid back based on the eponymous capital Kati Liens. The Maya 

took almost a year after that attempt to drive the conquistadors. The 

uprising was known. 

Attractions in Valladolid 

Photo Schlumpfs adventure is always on the lookout for photo 

opportunities. So also in Valladolid. How ever, so was still the problem 

with the defective EOS 500D Canon that did not cooperate with the 

standard lens from Sigma. But with an old Casio replacement camera 

but were caught a few snapshots. The beautiful church of San 

Bernardino de Sena is turned on with the evening illumination a real hit. 

But overall there are many photo opportunities in this lovely old town.
